Suriname Worldwide
Digital Platform Launch · Brand Identity & Infrastructure
THE SITUATION
The Surinamese diaspora is everywhere — and largely disconnected. Social media fragments the conversation. There was no dedicated space where community members could share experiences, preserve cultural knowledge, or find each other across generations and geographies.
SANI leadership saw the gap. They had ninety days before the 50th anniversary events to build something that could fill it. A platform. A brand. A storytelling initiative that felt like it belonged to the community, not just to an organization.
THE WORK
She developed the complete brand identity for Suriname Worldwide from the ground up — positioning, visual direction, messaging frameworks, audience definition. The brand needed to feel welcoming to diaspora members at every level of cultural connection, from those deeply rooted in Surinamese traditions to younger generations just beginning to explore their heritage.
Then she built it. The website. The content infrastructure. The submission systems designed for contributors with varying levels of digital literacy. The architecture that prioritized cultural resonance alongside functionality.
The flagship initiative was Wi Span — our stories in Sranan Tongo. A community-owned storytelling project that invited diaspora members worldwide to contribute their narratives. She developed the campaign strategy, submission frameworks, promotional materials, and curation guidelines that gave Wi Span a life beyond the launch.
At the anniversary events she coordinated the platform introduction to 450+ attendees — table tent QR codes for immediate story submission, printed materials explaining the mission, verbal introductions during programming that positioned Suriname Worldwide as SANI's living legacy project.
Ninety days. Concept to public launch. Built to keep running after she left.
WHAT IT BECAME
A fully operational digital platform for diaspora storytelling. A brand identity that resonates across generations. A storytelling initiative designed for global participation. And a sustainable content model that doesn't require constant hands-on management to keep growing.
